Writing Momentum Can Help You
Get Published Services
Let us help you take the confusion out of publishing your book.
Isn’t it time Your book sees the light of day?
You have a message the world needs to hear! We love to help writers who have a completed manuscript with:
- Designing a compelling cover
- Formatting for eBooks and print books
- Self-publishing through Amazon
- Referrals to local printers
Amazon’s Kindle Direct Publishing platform (KDP) is a great boon for authors. With it, you can publish a book yourself without needing to work with agents or traditional publishers. We can help you sign up for KDP, make the best choices for formatting and pricing your book, write your book’s ad on Amazon and upload your book to the platform. By the time we’re done, you’ll have everything ready to make your ebook and/or book available to the world. All you’ll have to do is press, “Go Live.”
It depends on the type of book you’re writing, the audience you’ve built, and the marketing you’re prepared to do. Over the years, we’ve been both traditionally and self-published, and we’ve worked with many authors who have done the same.
More and more we’re discovering that successful authors are opting to self-publish for greater rewards and faster results. They’re even finding that self-publishing sometimes opens the door to larger publishing opportunities.
We’ll be happy to walk you through the pros and cons of each option so you can be confident you’ve made the best decision.
Many authors choose to format through us because we use the latest technology to format your book–with an “ebook first” focus. This allows us to provide you with files that flow perfectly in e-readers. From there, we develop the print version of your book in PDF form that you can print through Amazon’s Kindle Direct Publishing.
Because of our technique, you’ll find you have an entire menu of formatting choices, but with limits, so it’s not overwhelming. In the end, you can be sure that what you end up with works for both ebooks and print books–even print books through a local publisher.
Pricing varies depending on the length of your book, whether it includes images and other factors. Contact us and we can give you an exact quote.
Typically, formatting your book for ebook and print, and setting it up on Amazon, runs between $1000-$1500. Unlike other services that make you purchase thousands of books in advance, we prefer to put the power in your hands. After you have the files we create, you can print as few as one book at a time–and don’t have to be concerned about having a garage full of books and a maxed out credit card.
Our authors love the ability to order as many or as few books as they want direct from the publisher, and make changes whenever they desire.
Securing an ISBN and UPC barcode is a simple process. Bowker Identifier Services is the only official ISBN agency in the U.S. We recommend scrolling down the page and purchasing the ISBN + barcode package for $150. If you’re publishing through Amazon, however, an ISBN and/or barcode are not necessary as Amazon provides one for you.
Getting author copies at cost is as easy as logging into your KDP account and selecting “Order author copies.” Then you check out through Amazon just as you would with any other Amazon puchase.
While we’ve helped authors publish through these services, we’ve found that most authors have the best experience publishing through Kindle Direct Publishing for smaller quantities and ebooks, or a local printer for larger quantities. Amazon accounts for a whopping 83% of ebook sales in the US, and the convenience of publishing in one place often outweighs the time and money spent to use other avenues.
Yes, we have strong relationships with U.S. printers we trust, and we’re happy to help you connect and get exactly what you’re looking for at surprisingly affordable prices. For smaller quantities (fewer than 250 books), we recommend using Kindle Direct Publishing through Amazon.
For printing in hardcover, we highly recommend using a local printer, and we can you refer you to one that does a wonderful job at a very reasonable price.
They can also do other special techniques such as dust covers, ribbons, color pages and other flourishes.
Many authors we work with like to have shorter books available for their readers. You can publish short books through Amazon, but they need to be at least 100 print pages (preferably 120 pages) to have the name of the book on the spine. If you have quite a few pages less than that, we can refer you to a local printer who can give you exactly what you’re looking for.
